Since I have moved to BC I haven't seen the sun much. The deep valleys and large lakes here favour low cloud cover in the winter. Luckily there is so much snow here and it is so beautiful. It has been an adjustment from sunny Alberta but when the sun does come out, wow. I am in heaven. These last few months have been the most difficult and painful I have ever faced yet the moments have been filled with grace and hope for a bright future. I just remember that there is a silver lining to the clouds of pain that eventually reveal itself.

Healing
My first piece of art I have made in my new home near Nelson BC. My time is spent filling my heart with love for myself and gratitude and love for all the blessings that have come into my life since moving here. The Kootenays have welcomed me with so much love.

Some Birds
I like birdwatching and I recently went to Bonnyville to visit friends and they live on a lake. They have a boat and we spent some time touring Moose Lake and Jessie Lake, there were so many birds! Here are some photos of the birds I saw. I think the Horned Grebe is the craziest looking bird of them all, although the breeding Pelican looked pretty funny
too.

Knittin'
I have started knitting more because I find it rewarding and the items are very useful if I manage to make them properly. I have knit here and there over the years but not a whole lot. I just finished my first sock and I am very excited about it. I also did a pair of felted slippers which I can't seem to find in the house right now to take a photo so I
will post them later. I was taught how to knit from my mom who was a very avid knitter, making us sweaters and knit dresses and even clothes for our dolls. She was a very talented knitter and so are many of my aunts and my sister and also my dear Oma who passed on the talent to all of us. My mother -in-law is also very good at knitting and has knit me a few pairs of beautiful socks over the years which I treasure. Here is the photo of my first sock. Hopefully I will continue to post more of my knitting.

A few more mixed media paintings
I feel like these are the beginning of a series of paintings. Both are mixed media done with acrylic paint and collage and one has some black ink too. The collage is done with some photos and also with paper I made with watercolour and different texturing techniques.
